The truth hurts. Saying that angry Muslims are rioting is now akin to saying that dogs bark. It is so common that it is predictable, but this time, those angry Muslims are idiotically proving the point of their perceived opposition. They just can’t help it.

In trying to make the innocuous point that faith and violence don’t mix, “infidel” leader of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Benedict XVI, while giving an address at a German university at which he once taught theology, appropriately quoted 14th century Byzantine Christian Emperor Manuel Paleologos II. The Pontiff stated, “Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.”

There are essentially two kinds of Muslims, the radical Wahhabiists, who have rightfully earned the title, “Islamo-Fascists’ and the majority of peaceful, too peaceful, Muslims, who quietly look the other way while all the terrorism and anarchy is promulgated by their own people. Why are they so quiet? Are they apathetic? Do they tacitly approve of this barbaric chaos and “jihad”? Or are they coerced into silence by fear from the radical minority of this “religion of peace,” which was started by a warrior, and not a pacifist, as in the Christian faith.

Not that this is any badge of honor by any means, but the teachings of the Catholic Church have recently been watered down and corrupted by liberalism. That is what brought about the sexual abuse scandal and rampant homosexuality among the ranks of the clergy and corrupted many seminaries. It is also the reason why many Catholics are now distanced from their faith. The Church is turning around, but with the turtle-like speed of any large institution in tumultuous times, just like a large ship in rough waters. Many Catholic priests no longer preach the fire and brimstone topics. They seldom discuss sin, or any of the third rail issues of sexual immorality that so many Catholics and non-Catholics take for granted today, as if the Bible doesn’t exist and this now common hedonism is a federal entitlement program. They wish to be liked, and not to offend anyone. Pope Benedict is not cut from that mold.

As EWTN’s Father Corapi once preached, such permissive priests, who preach that God’s commandments are really not that important and that God doesn’t really mind such incessant and grave sin, only endanger the unrepentant and misguided souls of their congregations, and their own souls as well. In our touchy-feely, warm and fuzzy world, where emotions, self-gratification and moral relativism rule over logic and decency, it is practically taboo to preach what is right and wrong today. Those who wish to dominate, if not stifle real dialogue on this subject often accuse of violators of this politically correct rule as being “judgmental,” in an attempt, often successful, to intimidate them into amoral compliance. A good parent disciplines his or her child. A good priest must also sometimes speak harshly to those committing sin, not out of anger, but out of love. The stick is no less important than the carrot. We now see what the alternative to that logic has gotten us. Who among us would ever go to a doctor, who would lie to us about our worsening illness so that he won’t upset us, as opposed to being honest and treating the disease? Pope Benedict said what needed to be said, and what too few people have the backbone to say. This elephant in the middle of the room is wielding a sword, and cannot be ignored, nor rewarded any longer.

The Islamic faith has produced nothing in terms of technology or progression of society. As radio pundit Michael Savage recently noted, unlike Christians, what great hospitals or universities Muslims have established? What have they invented? Islam has allowed itself to be ruled for centuries by its minority radical fringe. That fringe has killed and conquered, oppressed and obliterated, and in so doing, has willfully not moved much farther than about the seventh century. It has forcefully converted and killed in countries in history and continues to try to do so today. The two recently kidnapped Fox News reporters were not released until they pledged a conversion to Islam. Pope Benedict, a conservative theologian, had the guts to call it as he saw it. Notice that the Pope has expressed regret for offense he may have given Muslims, but not for his remarks. Some are saying an actual apology may be forthcoming from him soon. Personally, I hope not. Shame on all the media outlets that are saying the Pope caused the rioting and arson now going on by Muslims.

The chief difference between a man and an ape, beyond the presence of a thumb, the absence of a tail, and the ability to walk upright is the God-given gift of reason over instinct. The Pope did not cause angry Muslims to riot. Make no mistake about it, angry Muslims made a deliberate and conscious choice to riot, and if it wasn’t for this current lame excuse, it would be another one a month from now. Anarchists don’t need motivation, they should not be legitimized, and they certainly don’t deserve apologies. And for all the peaceful Muslims, sitting idly by, watching women, Jews and Christians being oppressed, buildings burned, and children indoctrinated and later blown up and throats cut, you need a wake up call, and unlike the Pope, I don’t regret any offense he may have caused you. As Sir Edmund Burke said, “All that is necessary for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing.” Go seek sympathy from the panderers of political correctness, but you won’t get it from me. Either you are part of the solution, or you are part of the problem. The only things found “in the middle of the road” are long yellow streaks, peppered with the occasional dead skunk. There is good reason why sitting on a fence is uncomfortable. People, all people, need a warm, comforting hug sometimes, and other times, a good, swift, awakening kick in the backside. To those slumbering Muslim “fence-sitters,” bend over!

Pope Benedict’s statement has been confirmed by its subject, as we now see global turmoil in the form of violent protests, effigies of the Pope burned, and yes, Christian churches firebombed by these so-called misunderstood peace lovers of Islam. As I have previously written, one peace loving 16-year-old punk assassinated Catholic priest Father Andrea Santoro on February 5, 2006 as Father Santoro was praying in the Church of Saint Mary in Trabzon, Turkey. The arrested Muslim thug was supposedly angry over the mountain made from a molehill depicting Muhammad in a Danish cartoon a few months back. Did we Catholics burn Muhammad in effigy? Did we cut anyone’s throat? Burn down a mosque? Send suicide bombers into Istanbul? And yet, the government of Turkey now has the audacity to be one of the most vocal critics of Pope Benedict’s remarks. Dutch film director Theo Van Gogh was another murder victim of “Muslims seeking tolerance.” Meanwhile, Christian missionaries all over the world risk and suffer arrest, imprisonment, torture, and even death, daily, for peacefully (truly peacefully) preaching the Gospel as many theocratic Muslim countries suppress and oppress any faith but their own. I am tired of “tolerance.” Passively aided and abetted by the all too “peaceful” majority of their faith, radical Muslims are proving more and more that they cannot be trusted or tolerated by other peoples. They cannot and will not peacefully coexist with anyone different from them, and in some cases, not even with their own. Like fire, they suck all the oxygen out of the room. It’s their way, and not the highway; the mosque, or the cemetery. And Pope Benedict’s comments were so wrong?

Consider Pope Benedict’s comments regarding the stone cold murder of Father Santoro in Michelle Malkin’s blog on her web site, www.michellemalkin.com. In her February 7, 2006 blog, “The Murder of Father Santoro.” Malkin quoted Pope Benedict in hoping, “That the blood shed will become the seeds of hope for building an authentic fraternity among peoples.” Wow. Can’t you just feel his seething vitriol for Muslims in those words? Meanwhile, back at the scene of the crime, in the predominantly “moderate” Muslim country of Turkey, the ruling political party compared Pope Benedict to Hitler and Mussolini, and accused him of attempting to revive the Crusades. I don’t recall ever hearing about Hitler or Mussolini being even remotely as charitable and forgiving in any situation as Pope Benedict demonstrated after the vicious murder of Father Santoro. Regarding the alleged revival of the Crusades, they have already been revived by Islamo-Fascists via increasing terrorism and oppression around the globe. The Crusades are already here, and they internationally and interdenominationally endanger everyone, in the Middle East and in the west, including Christians, Jews, and yes, you “peaceful” Muslims as well. If you bristle at the offensive word, “Crusades,” try “World War III.” Call it what you will, but like it or not, it’s here. If the modern day version of “Throat Cutters Anonymous” is so eager to jump back onto the “Allah and 72 Virgins Express,” I say, let’s aim to please! There is a lesson to be learned with Islamic terrorism that has not yet been learned. Just look at Israel. Real peace only comes when your (fanatical) enemy is dead, period.

This nonsense of cease-fires is the equivalent to continually lifting the lid off the boiling pot to see if the lobster inside is dead yet. It only prolongs the agony. The socialists of Europe tried tolerance with Muslims and look what it got them. (Or just try to get fire insurance for a car in France now!) You cannot placate or negotiate with someone who only desires your conversion or death. That kind of ultimatum leaves no room for bargaining chips. Yes, Christ taught us to “turn the other cheek” when slapped, but we are beyond slaps and have run out of cheeks to turn. We didn’t start this fight, but one way or the other, we better finish it. All niceties aside, this fight is about survival vs. death, with little to no gray area in between. The Pope is extending an olive branch to hawks who want nothing of it. And if they don’t, then our only alternative is to zealously kill the barbarians like the cockroaches they are, and for the fence sitters, let them finally choose a side, one side, and commit to it once and for all. Their procured but precarious state of safety from the radical minority among them, who they so desperately fear (or secretly support), is not bought and paid for, but rather, only rented, with a short-term lease and no “out” clause. While speaking firmly and with resolve, Pope Benedict is nevertheless pursuing a desperate, idealistic, albeit, peaceful route in ending this tumult as a kindly teacher. We didn’t have to wait long to see the undesired response from the not so kindly pupils.

Tough times call for tough words, whether those words come from a parent, a police officer, a judge, a teacher, or a clergy member, and particularly from a clergy member from a faith that preaches salvation by free, but responsible will, and not conversion by duress from the ominous sword. Pope Benedict XVI showed raw courage in a world turned coward long ago. His words, while perhaps tough, expressed both truth and love while striving for world peace and salvation. That is called tough love, and he was both kind and correct in making his statement. The $64,000.00 question though, is did anyone who needed to hear it really listen? Meanwhile, the anarchist vermin once again do what they do best, and flames of both hatred and fire spread across the world from ruthless butchers, feigning their Trojan Horse of “peace,” while being aided and abetted by their pusillanimous supporters, hiding behind either the Koran or a TV camera and microphone. We should hope and pray that the Holy Father now stands by his words, and that his brave example will embolden other genuine leaders of peace from both sides of this conflict to also step forward and continue what he started before it is too late. No one ever said that greatness comes easily.
